Emma + George’s Boo Cat Club Wedding and Reception by documentary wedding photographer Jaimie Nicole Krause Photography

How would you describe your wedding experience?

It was everything we had hoped for. It sounds like a cliche but it really felt that way. After having to postpone because of the pandemic it was amazing all the people we got to see and all the fun we had. I knew I had great family and friends but it’s moments like this that you learn HOW great. Everybody was so supportive and happy for us. I couldn’t believe how much people wanted to help or share a kind word. It was truly amazing.

What things were most important to you when wedding planning? What were your wishes for your wedding day?

The first time we sat down with our wedding planner we said we just wanted a big party with all our friends there. When the pandemic hit that became impossible and we were really really bummed about it. I can’t explain to you how thrilled we were that we were able to have all our people there and we got the party we wanted. We wanted good food, an open bar, and a full dance floor. We wanted everybody to walk away with at least one solid good memory. Our wedding ended up being the first big event a lot of people attended since the pandemic started so I think we got our wish.

What advice would you give to other couples for their wedding day?

George – Focus as much on the moment don’t worry about the next 5 minutes.
Emma – Hire good vendors if you can! I can’t explain how low stress the day was and that was because we hired great people who handled it all for us. It was so nice just to have someone else worry about scheduling and placement and when people needed to be where.

Was there anything that surprised you on the wedding day?

How quickly it went. Everybody had told us it goes by so quickly but you really don’t understand until you experience it. I feel like all morning we were anxious for things to start then once they started we blinked and it was over.

What was your first thought when you woke up the morning of the wedding?

George – “I hope I don’t ugly cry when I see Emma” Emma – “I should have gone to bed earlier”

Tell me about how you each felt when you saw each other for the first time.

George – When I first saw Emma, it made everything real. For so long it had been planning and hypothetical, but once I saw her it was real.

Emma- I thought “George looks REALLY good in a suit”. I couldn’t wait to get the show on the road and I felt really happy that we were finally getting married.

What was your first dance song and how did you choose it?

“I’m Happy Just To Dance With You” By the Beatles
Emma is a huge Beatles fan and George wanted an old song. We both liked that it was kind of bouncy and quick. We didn’t want people sitting through a 6-minute first dance song. And we do both like to dance with each other so it felt like a good pick.

Tell me how you felt during the reception.

Really good. Everywhere we looked we tried to commit what we saw to memory. It was all so fun and everything looked so perfect. Everyone kept telling us how great everything was and it just felt really good to know people were having a good time.

What was your favorite part of the day?

Dancing! We had so much fun and the songs were great. I think we left the dance floor maybe 3 times the whole night.

What were you most anxious/nervous/fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome?

G – I was anxious that everyone would make it. Most of our family lives out of state so I was anxious they wouldn’t make it or like the pandemic would cause travel restrictions or shutdowns again.
E – I was worried about the weather. It was supposed to be crazy hot and then there was supposed to be a big storm. Thankfully though there was a nice breeze while we took pictures and the storm didn’t hit until after we started the ceremony and everyone was inside. There was even some perfectly timed thunder during our ceremony.

When planning your wedding, what photos were most important to you and why?

George – The wedding party photos were important to me. Our party was made up of people we have become friends with throughout our lives. It included our family, grade school friends, high school friends, and college friends. It’s probably the only time in our lives we will have all these different groups together at one time.
Emma – I’m excited to see the reception photos. There’s only so much you can commit to memory so it will be fun to look back years from now at pictures that will jog memories and remind us of moments we forgot about.
