The perfect indoor cold weather option
We don’t have a lot of indoor options for photo sessions in St. Louis, so I usually schedule sessions during warmer weather. If winter weather has you looking indoors, consider doing your engagement session at the Central Library. The building boasts beautiful architecture indoors and out.
You do need a permit for an engagement session at the Central Library, which is something that I’m able to help you with! (The Central Library only allows two people to be photographed, so it’s not an option for family photos or for wedding parties.) If you’re shooting outside of the library after hours, it’s not necessary.
The area around the Central Library offers a good variety of textures and backgrounds for photos. In the evening, the light bounces around the buildings and creates a lovely golden glow.
Since the Central Library is in the Downtown St. Louis vicinity, you’re right across from St. Louis City Hall, and not far from Wash Ave. Some of my favorite parking garages are also close by and would be a wonderful way to end your engagement session. I absolutely love parking garage rooftops at dusk. It has a very moody, romantic feel with the light. Parking garages are a great way to include a car or motorcycle if that’s something that you or your significant other is into that.
If you’d like a bit of greenery for your engagement session, Lafayette Park isn’t far and would also be a beautiful option for photos. City Garden would also be a wonderful consideration! There is a little pocket of green just to the side of the library, as well as across the street at the Soldier’s Memorial.
