Preparing for Your Boudoir Session—Your Ultimate Confidence Guide

So, you booked your boudoir session (hell yes!). Now, you might be wondering—how do I get ready for this? First things first, don’t stress! This experience is about embracing yourself, feeling amazing, and having fun.

To help you feel your best and make the most of your session, here’s everything you need to know about prepping for your big day.

1. Hydrate & Nourish Your Body

Your body deserves some love before your session, so take care of it!

  • Drink lots of water the days leading up to your session for glowing skin.
  • Eat well—don’t skip meals! Boudoir posing can be more of a workout than you’d expect. You need the energy.
  • Get enough sleep—nothing beats that rested, refreshed glow.

2. Skip the Spray Tan & Harsh Skincare Treatments

Spray tans and tanning beds might seem like a good idea, but they often don’t photograph well. Uneven tones, orange hues, or splotchy patches? Hard pass.

If you want to do any waxing, exfoliating, or skincare treatments, schedule them at least a week before to avoid redness or irritation.

3. Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Like a Goddess

Your boudoir wardrobe should reflect your personality, comfort, and confidence.

  • Lingerie Sets – Lace, mesh, or bold colors—whatever makes you feel sexy.
  • Casual Chic – Think Calvin Klein underwear, thick socks, oversized sweaters.
  • Vixen Vibes – Red lips, bold lingerie, and maybe a touch of leather and chains.
  • Bridal Boudoir – Soft, delicate lace, sheer robes, and a veil for a dreamy aesthetic.

Pro Tip: Bring at least 4 outfit options PLUS two basic bra + panty sets so we can mix it up!

4. Get Glammed Before Your Session

This is your excuse to indulge in some self-care!

  • Get a fresh manicure & pedicure (if that’s your thing). Neutral or classic colors photograph beautifully. If you’re not into polish, make sure nails and cuticles are trimmed and neat.
  • Let my pro makeup artist glam you up! Whether you want soft & natural or bold & dramatic, you’ll look phenomenal!
  • Keep hair simple & touchable Tousled beach waves, sleek & straight, or curls for days – whatever your style, we’ll keep it loose and touchable for a look that slays and stays all day.

5. Wear Loose Clothing Before Your Session

Tight clothing (like bras, socks, and jeans) leaves marks on your skin. On the day of your session, wear loose, comfy clothes to avoid red lines. Bonus: Permission to go braless granted.

6. Don’t Worry About Posing—That’s My Job!

You do not need to know how to pose. That’s what I’m here for! I’ll guide you every step of the way—from how to breathe, where to place your hands, and how to move naturally.

Just show up, trust the process, and let me take care of the rest.

7. Let Go of Perfection & Just Have Fun!

Boudoir isn’t about achieving some unrealistic standard of beauty—it’s about celebrating you.

  • Laugh, move, embrace the moment.
  • Let go of the idea of perfection—your beauty is already there.
  • Trust yourself, trust me, and trust the process.

I have an entire post on how to mentally prepare for a boudoir session.
