It was a little windy and it was getting pretty cold, but we toughed it out and got some amazing shots during Ramona & Darryl’s Kiener Plaza engagement session.
Daryl and Ramona met as children in church. They lost contact as they grew up, but thanks to social media, the two reconnected as adults, and often chatted on Facebook or when they ran into each other in social settings.
Before their first date, Daryl sent flowers to Ramona at work, wishing her a great day and letting her know that he was excited about their first outing. That one small gesture made an impression on Ramona, and made her very excited about getting to know Daryl better.
Their fist date was a day of random fun at Forest Park in November of 2011. They started off at the zoo, then browsed the art museum and the history museum.
Ramona: “On the very first date I felt comfortable and safe with Daryl, he was and is a true gentleman. Although it seems strange I knew a month into our relationship that Daryl would be the last man I dated. Our conversations, our interactions was like nothing I had experienced before. He expressed early on that he knew that I was the woman God had purposed for him, and I was certain that he is the man God created for me.”
Daryl proposed to Ramona on his birthday, as they were gathered with family and friends to celebrate at one of their favorite seafood restaurants. Towards the end of dinner, Daryl got up to thank everyone for coming and sharing this day with him.
He then turned towards Ramona, got on one knee and asked her to be his wife. She was so shocked, her initial response was “Thank you,” when he placed the ring on her finger, but she did say yes shortly after.
Ramona and Daryl have GREAT style. Ramona says, “For the engagement pics, I wanted it to seem like a regular weekend outing for us. I wanted the pictures to showcase the autumn scenery and our beautiful city. We wanted outfits that would complement the warm colors of fall.”
Ramona’s style tips: “My personal style is classic with a touch of trendy. I like to match classic pieces like button down or pearls with trendy items like chambray and denim.”
Ramona’s tips for preparing for your engagement session: “Don’t over think it, just enjoy the time and the opportunity.”

During the fall and winter, the fountain in Kiener Plaza is empty- and I have to admit, I think that’s when I like best. The warm texture of the concrete is the perfect compliment to Ramona and Daryl’s casual autumn style.
