Crystal and Spencer live in Montgomery, Alabama, but had their winter wedding here in St. Louis, where Crystal is from. When the couple were back visiting in St. Louis last August, we squeezed in their Forest Park Grand Basin engagement session between wedding planning. It started off as a beautiful summer evening, but the dark clouds quickly rolled in. Fortunately, we wrapped up our session right before the skies opened up and it started pouring.

Photographers (myself included) love shooting during “golden hour” because of the gorgeous, warm light- just like this!

I think this is my favorite shot of the evening- beautiful light and beautiful couple!

This is one of my favorite little bridges in Forest Park, which is located right near the Grand Basin.

This is definitely another one of my favorites from their session!

During the evening and morning hours, the light in the Grand Basin is perfect for photos. During the afternoon… it’s kinda brutal- the water and the white stone reflect the sun and make it feel 20 degrees hotter than it is as well as blinding everyone. I always suggest avoiding this area during bright summer afternoons.
