These two. I don’t even know what to say about them except that they are so much fun to be around. Their whole wedding party was fun. Everyone seemed to know each other and get along great. Their friends and family were so happy for Susan and Kevin, and it really showed throughout the day.
Susan had a totally laid back approach to getting ready, and psaced it out with lots of food and time to chat with family and friends. I promise all of you brides-to-be out there that this really makes all the difference in the world. Build in time to relax, and you’ll find yourself actually enjoying your day. The stress eliminates itself.
Susan and Kevin had their first look just outside of the Westin Hotel downtown where the girls got ready. Then we hopped on a golf cart and headed to the stadium while the wedding party loaded the party bus, then met us there.
The weather started off beautiful, but hot. The party bus driver was AWESOME and followed us around the perimeter of the park. That meant the girls were able to hop back on the bus and cool of while we were taking photos of the guys. If you’re planning a wedding between May – September in the Midwest, I definitely recommend a nice, cool party bus for this reason.
Fun, impressive fact: the bride’s grandfather (with some help) did all of the flowers for the wedding. Didn’t he do a fantastic job?!?
After we finished at the park, Susan wanted to go to Urban Chestnut to have a beer and relax with their loved ones before the ceremony. The guys were a riot and had everyone laughing the entire time we were there. We finished up with a few portraits in the brewery.
Just as we were leaving, it started storming. My assistant Caroline and I were drenched by the time we made it back to the car. (And let me tell you, we looked fabulous the rest of the evening.)
The rain didn’t stop there. It continued raining throughout the ceremony and the cocktail hour, which happened to be outdoors in the 9th Street Abbey courtyard. Guests carried umbrellas, and some just stood out in the rain, which had at least diminished to sprinkles by then. It didn’t put a damper on the fun though!
There was so much laughter, kind words, love, and encouragement during the toasts. And that’s exactly how all wedding day toasts should be!
Kevin’s singer/songwriter friend from Nashville performed for the formal dances (how awesome is that?!?) before opening the dance floor to the guests.
Congratulations again Susan and Kevin! You all were such a joy to work with!
These awesome vendors made this day possible!
