How they met // The Love Story

We met online. Swiped our way to each other’s hearts. Get it?! Tinder!

The Venue

We chose Lumen sight unseen from Chicago. We loved the open and airy feel of the venue and the reviews stated the food was impeccable. When we went for our tasting we were beyond happy with our choice. The upstairs part of the venue where we had our ceremony was gorgeous; exposed brick and hardwood floors with lots of light. We had candles down the aisle and a very simple but romantic feel.

Décor + Details

Our wedding was simplistic and romantic. Our venue had character and elegance therefore we did not need to add much. We had hydrangeas and floating candles as the center pieces. With a couple Hershey kisses to top it off…who doesn’t love chocolate?! We wanted everything to be simple and minimalistic to focus on our day not the small details.

What She Wore

I went with my mother, sister, mother in law and sister in law to find the perfect dress. I knew my dress would be at BHLDN and it was! I chose a simple lace top and flowy bottom with a pink underlay.  I chose it because when I put it on it felt right and nothing else compared.

What He Wore

He wore a navy suit and a pink bow tie. We wanted a comfortable feel and more causal wedding so the suit was the route for us.

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was completely us. Non-traditional, fun, light hearted and lots of love. My brother in law officiated the ceremony and did a beautiful job. I felt as if no one else was in the room besides my husband. It was perfect.

Music // Reception // Party

We wanted everyone out on the dance floor. On our rsvp cards we had a spot for our guest to request their favorite songs. All we wanted was for everyone to have a great time.

The Photographer (Jaimie!)

We picked Jaimie from the Knot. We were able to look through her photos and decide that her style pictures are what we wanted and envisioned for our day. She came to Chicago to take our engagement photos and they turned out great and better than we could have wanted! She was great to work with and I would recommend her to everyone.

Advice to couples planning their wedding

Take each moment in stride and enjoy every step of the process. I enjoyed wedding planning with my husband. If you can easily make decisions then it will be a breeze! Happy planning!!
