Your elopement celebration with family and friends can be done after your actual elopement!
You’ll likely have an intimate elopement, so your loved ones won’t be there with you. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with them another way.
I’m going to give you some great ideas for celebrating with your family and friends after your elopement, which will be an exciting and fun experience for you all.
7 Elopement Celebration Ideas With Family and Friends
- Look back at your elopement photography
- Do something that signifies your elopement
- Go for a nice dinner
- Backyard BBQ
- Glamping
- Rent an AirBnB
- Have a Reception
Look back at your elopement photography
You could have a get-together with your family and friends, set up your elopement photos on your big screen and you can all look back on the exciting adventure you had.
Your friends and family will enjoy looking through your photos and seeing how much fun you had on your wedding day.
If any of them had any reservations about you taking a more unconventional path, they’ll see that you made the right decision for you.
Do something that signifies your elopement
If you climbed to the peak of a mountain you could go on a huge adventure and do the same with your loved ones.
Or, if you eloped on a sandy beach, then go to the beach, have a picnic and pop the champagne and reminisce about the elopement you had– I’m sure they all have burning questions to ask you! You could even show them your wedding photos.
Go for a nice dinner
A great way to relax and chat with each other with no home interruptions is to go to a relaxed restaurant, eat some good food and chat away about your elopement. You could even rent a private room if they offer this!
Again, your family and friends will probably have a lot to ask and will want to hear all about the activities that took place and your eloping experience.
If you all love a nice meal out, what better way to celebrate with your family and friends after your elopement?
Backyard BBQ
You can’t really beat the comfort of your own home, can you? And, if you have just come back from an adventurous elopement full of long hikes then you probably want to rest.
You can do so by having a backyard BBQ– cook up your favorite recipes and your family and friends can help themselves while you chat away with your fave beer in hand.
Glamping
If you’re into adventure and relaxation, take a group glamping trip to celebrate your elopement with your family and friends!
Find a cozy campsite, with firepits and talk around the fire, listen to your favorite songs, roast some marshmallows, maybe share some edibles or smokable cannabis – whatever floats your boat – go for it! In fact, water activities are high on the list (canoeing, boating, swimming, etc.) of activities during adventure sessions with my couples.
Rent an Airbnb
Another idea to celebrate with your family and friends after your elopement is to get away but still have the comfort of home by renting a giant AirBnB. Choose somewhere that offers the amenities that you want.
Whether it’s simply a great place to all hang out, a big kitchen so you can all make tacos, or a swimming pool!
Have a Reception
If you want to, you could have a reception where your family and friends can celebrate you. You can go as formal or casual as you’d like. I’ve seen beautiful reception celebrations of all varieties.
You can simply have it at a local park or a favorite local venue, or make it unique and do it somewhere you love the idea of, such as at a wedding venue in the desert, on the beach, in the forest, or in the mountains.
Create a unique elopement celebration with your family and friends!
Now that you have these ideas for celebrating with your family and friends after your elopement, you can focus on spending quality time with them and re-telling the stories of your elopement, from your intimate ceremony to your many amazing adventures, all carefully planned and documented by your photographer on both digital and old-school film photos.
As a documentary elopement photographer and travel advisor, I love helping couples explore the possibilities for doing their wedding their own way.
